This looked good value for money. It was easy to fit, with nice features like a spacer to help you position it carefully, and the self-adhesive pads to hold it in the right place while you tighten the screws. Even included the necessary tools! The slow-motion close is good, stopping not only the noise from a slamming lid but any potential damage. Cleverly there is an easy-release hinge mechanism which means you can take the seat off the fittings to clean it, at the press of a button, and then click it back on in place afterwards. Genius! Only just installed it so can't really comment on long-term reliability, but impressed so far with the build quality, tools, fittings and overall design so I'm anticipating equally good reliability (hence the 5 stars for that too).Would definitely recommend this over other cheaper ones (especially veneer wooden seats which are just rubbish!)

It took several weeks for stock to become available but it was worth the wait. This was my first encounter with this type of seat mounting so I decided to practice before finally fitting it using the bottom fix method. I found that a small rotation of the mounts made a real difference to the position of the front of the seat relative to the pan, so I marked the ideal position using a whiteboard marker on mounts and pan, and then removed the mounts to take off the protection for the adhesive. I could then reposition the mounts to my marked positions and fit the bolts and nuts finger tight. I then put the spacer provided on the mounting pegs before placing the seat on them which allowed me to collapse the supports by pressing on the seat without locking the seat onto the pegs, making it easy to lift off. I left the spacer in position while I tightened the bolts.I then discovered that because the pipework behind the pan had been boxed in for a neat appearance, I could get the spanner provided on the nut but I didn't have room to turn it. I solved that by holding the spanner still and using the Allen key provided to turn the bolt head to tighten the nut. I then removed the spacer and fitted the decorative caps, after which the seat clicked into its perfect position. It works very well.I thought these hints and tips might be useful for another novice like me attempting this type of fitting for the first time. I can't comment on reliability because it has only been in use for a couple of days, but I can't submit this comment without giving a mark.
